General Purpose Brazing Alloys

Cadmium Bearing

For joining Copper and copper alloys(brass, bronze, nickel silvers, aluminium bronze and copper nickel), Steel, Stainless Steels, Tungsten Carbide. When joining Nickel and nickel alloys, please consult our technical team.

If brazing in air, flux is required. Note the melting range of the alloy must match the active range of the flux. The flux should be active before the alloy melts.

Easy-flo 1 50%Ag:Cu:Zn:Cd 620-630 420 0.05-0.15 Red AG301 (AG 1) ; L-Ag50Cd Easy-flo 1 and 2 provide the lowest liquidus temperature and shortest melting ranges of any silver brazing alloy. Both alloys are particularly recommended where a minimum brazing temperature is desirable to preserve the properties of the parent metals. Both alloys need well fitted joints with small gaps. Makes strong thin joints.
Easy-flo 2 42%Ag:Cu:Zn:Cd 608-617 390 0.05-0.20 Black AG 303 (AG 2) Easy-flo 2 is the cheaper option (contains less silver) whilst maintaining similar brazing characteristics. Easy-flo 1 on the other hand has slightly better ductility and corrosion resistance and provides neater joint fillets.
Easy-flo 3 50%Ag:Cu:Zn:Cd:Ni 634-656 490 0.05-0.15 Green AG 304 Easy-flo 3 is a specialised alloy designed for brazing tungsten carbide and austenitic stainless steel. Recommended for resistance to sea water corrosion as well.
DIN Argo-flo 40%Ag: Cu:Zn:Cd 595-630 505 0.05-0.20 White L-Ag40Cd Din Argo-flo and Mattibraze 34 These general purpose alloys exhibit good all round brazing characteristics of short melting range, good flow, joint penetration and fillet forming capability. Recommended for applications with slow heating rates.
Mattibraze 34 Mattibraze 34 34%Ag:Cu:Zn:Cd 612-668 505 0.075-0.20 Brown AG 305 (AG 11); L-Ag34Cd Good fillet forming characteristics, used for assemblies where joint gaps are up to 0.2 mm.
Argo-swift 30%Ag:Cu:Zn:Cd 607-685 535 0.075-0.20 _ AG 306 (AG 12); L-Ag30Cd Has a wider melting range and increasing liquidus temperature. It is a good fillet forming alloy with an ability to bridge wide gaps. It is not suitable for application where slow heating may produce liquation.
Metalsil 20%Ag:Cu:Zn:Cd:Si 605-765 - 0.075-0.20 _ L-Ag20Cd Cheaper alternative to 30% silver used in general engineering and refrigeration.

Caution! Good ventilation is essential when brazing with cadmium bearing products.
